Gordon arbeitet seit 1998 freiberuflich als Fotojournalist. Von 2000 bis 2003 war er Mitglied im Journalistenbüro Spot und studierte 2003/2004 Fotojournalismus am London College of Communication. Seit 2006 wird Gordon von der Agentur laif vertreten. 2012 absolvierte er den Lehrgang „Schutz und Verhalten in Krisenregionen“ für Journalisten des Bundesministerium der Verteidigung.

Gordon arbeitet regelmässig für nationale und internationale Magazine und Zeitungen, Nicht-Regierungs-Organisationen, Unternehmen und Werbeagenturen.

Für seine Reportagen reiste Gordon nach Russland, Kasachstan, Senegal, Kanada, Indonesien, Kuba und durch Europa. Er organisiert und leitet verschiedene Fotoworkshops, war Jurymitglied diverser Fotoawards in Deutschland und den USA. 2010 erhielt Gordon ein Stipendium der VG Bild-Kunst.
