Zur Person

Rasmus Kaessmann fell for his camera while travelling through East Africa. His quest for the best shot led him through rainforests and scary third-world capitals. Back in Europe , he began with shooting fashion and beauty - but he soon returned to more familiar playingfields. He now shoots sports, advertising, portraits, and editorial features.
Being a rockclimber, mountaineer, snowboarder and all, he likes it the hard way. Snapping pictures with frozen fingers on top of some of the highest peaks in the Alps, on Africa's chilly Mount Kilimandjaro or the ragged Mount Kenya.
Despite his love for the mountains, he recently moved from Munich to Berlin. The city provides him with new inspiration for his work. Its the crazy mix of people that fascinates him. That's also why he enjoys working on social projects on the side. One of the most exciting experiences so far has been a catalogue production for “Rütli-Wear”, a fashion label run by students of what some media dubbed "Germany's worst school". His Models - 22 "ineducable" students from Berlin Neukölln - took him by surprise. Their energy and commitment, he recalls, were amazing.
If he's sick of this big city life, the half-swede retreats North and holes up in the loneliness of the swedish archipelago.
